Mission

Mentoring to Manhood helps build character and self esteem by providing tools that enable young men to sharpen and enhance their life skills to achieve high levels of academic success; facilitating positive thinking and actions; creating compassionate, caring, and community minded young men by actively exposing them to diverse learning opportunities and community service environments.

Mentoring to Manhood has created a model that enables a male child to form a trusting, caring, and sustained relationship with an adult that can truly open and maintain the pathways of a bright future and a fulfilling life.

About Us

Mentoring to Manhood was founded in April of 2005 as a non-for-profit program targeting young men ages 14-18 focused on developing an understanding of social responsibility and establishing a place as an effective leader in their immediate communities.

MTM has grown a successful program to develop male youths into "men of excellence" by starting with a group academically, professionally and socially accomplished mentors.   Our mentors are the heart and soul of our organization.   They run our day to day operations, coordinate our workshops, perform recruiting duties and lead our fundraising efforts.   Our mentors are attorneys, educators, politicians, writers, bankers and engineers positioned in various walks of life, born to different corners of the world, committed to the success of the Washington area youth and communities.

MTM seeks to nurture and improve our community's youth through social influences, academic support, spiritual development, comradery and scholarship.   MTM consistently runs group activities and workshops led by trained facilitators and reputable community leaders on the first and third Saturdays of the month throughout the school year.   During the summers we also facilitate special activities and retreats.   In conjunction with our own workshops and functions we broaden the exposure of our mentees by collaborating with various educational facilities and other mentoring groups such as 100 Black Men of America and Jwanzaa.
